Making decisions
Values are principles or standards that somebody considers to be important, many values can impair your judgment.
Values can be many things that can cloud someone's decision making process, these include: Aesthetic, Economic, Environmental, Educational, Ethical, Health, Recreational, Scientific, and Social.
Models can be used to provide a systematic approach to decision making, they are aptly named "Decision - Making Models".
The first step in a decision making model is to gather information, this includes things such as watching televised news reports, and/or talking to adults skilled in the area of interest.
Second, a Value must be taken into consideration. Write down each option that is available, and then evaluate the outcomes of each decision.
Make a decision!
Although this may be the systematic approach to reaching a solution/decision, it is not one that I use on a daily basis.
I find that adding values and having more choices impairs my judgment. When I make a decision, I write about four or five possible outcomes and then I make a pros and cons chart.
BUT a big part of this must be your outlook on the decisions.
When making a vital decision one must stay Objective, meaning that no emotions are taken into consideration. And then I choose a decision that is the best fit for me.
